Guided Broaching Tools For Keyways & Splines


Elmass Internal Keyways is a division of G & O Kert P/L. We operate a highly specialized contract broaching workshop. We broach internal keyways, splines, hexagons and many other shapes in blind bores and through holes. We are equipped with the latest  elmass® broaching technology and work with most materials used in aerospace, general engineering, food processing, medical and chemical applications.

As an additional service we supply complete parts machined to your specifications. We work to ISO 9002 Quality Standards and offer a fast turnaround at competitive rates.

Our Competitive Advantage

The elmass® Technology is based on guided broaching tools and vertical broaching machines. It offers many advantages and eliminates common problems such as misalignment of the keyway as well as vibration or deflection of the cutting tool which are associated with conventional broaching and slotting machines.

Our guided broaches are self-centering and force the cutter to be in a 90 degree angle to the bore. The eccentric guide bush inhibits any deflection of the tool bar.

The precision ground tips, which have a highly defined geometrical shape, cut with zero clearance. We carry a large range of standard tools in H9, P9 and JS9 tolerances. Tools of any other shape or tolerance can be made to your requirements within a few days. The eccentric guide bush inhibits any deflection of the tool bar. Manual Tool Assembly

It takes just a few minutes to set up the tools for any manual machine:

  • Select the required toolbar, guide bush and cutter  for the application
  • Insert cutter into the tool bar
  • Mount the guide bush and align it parallel to the square of the tool bar
  • Insert the advance bar
  • Mount the main body assembly and the tool holder
  • Advance the cutter out and lock its  final position with the grub screw
  • Mount the torque rod that stops the spindle from turning
  • Mount the assembled tool on the machine
